The Moor Tower, Hay On Wye

Moor Tower is a project currently being undertaken by Jenkinson Builders, this unique former water tower is being restored to provide holiday accommodation. The building has been completely gutted and is undergoing extensive restoration works which include renewal of oak flooring and staircases and high level lime pointing. Also of note is the replacement of the existing oak water spout depicting the head of a dragon crafted by our very own Billy Johnson. This project has proved challenging as the existing fabric needs to be incorporated into a workable using space. Jenkinson Builders have been working closely with ecologists to ensure that any resident wildlife is looked after sufficiently.

Llanigon 2

Working closely with CO2 Architects this former agricultural building situated near the book town of Hay On Wye, is currently undergoing extensive conversion works which include major underpinning of the existing stone wall, and provision for Glulam Trusses. We will keep updating this page as the works proceed.

Llanigon

Bromyard Extension

Designed by Hook Mason Architects this brick built extension incorporates a Green Oak Balcony, traditional reclaimed clay tile roof and contemporary aluminium bi-folding doors, locally sourced western red cedar cladding and internally engineered oak flooring and oak staircase.

Presteigne Former School

This interesting project provides accommodation within the ruin of a former school building. Works carried out include replacement of existing fenestration and construction of contemporary dormer roof extensions with cedar cladding.

Herefordshire Cottage

This black and white traditional Herefordshire Cottage was badly damaged by a fire in the Spring of 2019 and has since undergone an extensive restoration process that was carried out by Jenkinson Builder in partnership with Hook Mason Architects. Sympathetic restoration of the A Frame trusses was carried out. We were also able to salvage the ancient Oak and Elm floor boarding to the main bedroom.

Old Gwernyfed Mansion House

Listed as one of the most significant old houses in Wales, we have been involved in renewing the roof coverings and repointing the external elevations with traditional lime mortar. Also included in the restoration works was the replacement of the stone tiles to the unique Dove Cots. Extensive restoration works was also carried out on the adjoining barns requiring complete renewal of the road side elevation of stone work.

Kinnersley

Abergavenny Kitchen Extension

This project was worked in collaboration with Studio Walmsley Architects. This contemporary kitchen extension was built adjoining a traditional welsh mansion house near Abergavenny, incorporating traditional A Frame trusses made from locally sourced Douglas Fir.

Barn Conversion

This former agricultural barn situated on the border between Wales and England has undergone an extensive conversion. Whilst the new building has undergone a dramatic transformation, great care was taken to retain the buildings original features which include the Oak Trusses and stone Lancet Windows.
